I thought the above article dealing with abstract quilt making and art was well worth sharing with my readers who love to know how others feels about "QUILTS AS ART". Is it art or isn't it art...What are your Thoughts???? Leave a comment....,please.... Don't be shy.....You're entitled to your own opinion...as is everyone else.

ReplyDeleteI am especially pleased that you commented...THANKS SO VERY, VERY MUCH... I was beginning to think that no one would ever be brave enough to express themselves...which would be so sad since we all know whether we like or dislike something called art. Yet deep inside sometimes we allow what others think to hold us captive... from expressing our true inner feelings and emotions and tastes on art and how we feel deep inside about it.We feel we must conform to what the crowd considers to be "GOOD ART". I too am affected by what others think...but I'm trying to allow myself more freedom to know when to conform and when to break the shackles and run with what I, as a person, feel good about.
I have learned that M-provisational quilt making is an expression of what the inner person in many of us really likes and wants to do in our quilt making. We want to express our individual "LIKES,DISLIKES AND TASTES" according to how we ,individually, wish to arrange color, style, patterns,etc....My thoughts are that each of us should continue to be brave and express our true feelings in our art...It should make one feel especially good and fuzzy inside when we've created something different and one-of-a-kind that we approve of... and that others in turn like and appreciate too. It's indeed sad when one is frowned upon, because his/her artistic tastes are a bit brighter in color, somewhat offbeat and syncopated or overflows the lines of exact, precise boundaries ....JAZZ would have never caught on if someone had not given it a try and had others who in turn came to listen and appreciate its syncopated uniqueness of style.
HAPPY QUILTING!!!
